Ion Nami Murata

Ms. Murata is an educator who loves tea, especially oolong. She likes exploring the relationship
between music, food, history, and nature. Recently, she has been learning more about old recipe
books from the 18th century from around the world. Her top favorite go-to restaurants are Thai and
Vietnamese restaurants. She also loves trying new recipes and experiences. When not playing
Indonesian gamelan, working on her graduate courses, or grading, she can be found catching up on
sleep, reading on her phone, singing, or playing her other instruments. She is excited to see how this
year unfolds and can’t wait to teach fourth grade and chimes.
