Working with the kids
Please describe anything unique or interesting in your background that is relevant to the job.
I come from a family of educators, and married into a family of educators. My great, great grandparents were college professors, my mother is a retired teacher, both of my sisters are teachers, as well as two cousins and a niece. My mother-in-law was a teacher, and my grandmother-in-law was a County Superintendent in Washington state.
Who/what inspired you to become a teacher?
When I was in 2nd grade I entered a talent fair at Concordia University, Nebraska. When I went home I knew I wanted to be a Lutheran school teacher. I am living my dream.
Who is someone you really admire and why?
I admire my parents. My mom and dad were hard working Christian people who raised four kids, maintained their own interests, and believed in God and country. My dad served in the Navy and worked for the same company for 40 years. During his life he served the church, the community, and his family. He went to live with Jesus 15 years ago. My mom has been the glue that holds our family together. She had four children then went to college and got her teaching degree when the youngest went to Kindergarten. She taught K-8th grade in a one room school house before moving to a three room school. She allowed me to help in her classrooms during my school vacations. She was my first mentor. She is the person my family goes to for advice.
