What is your favorite thing about teaching?
My favorite thing about teaching is being able to share the love of Jesus with students every day. I love that I can share my faith with them and in turn, help them build the foundations of theirs.
Who/what inspired you to become a teacher?
One of my middle school teachers, Mrs. Davis, inspired me to become a teacher because she made each of her students feel loved every single day. I think that is one of the best things about being a teacher, making every student feel like they belong and are loved each day they are in my classroom.
Can you share any favorite quotes?
"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." - William Butler Yeats
"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education." - Martin Luther King Jr.
What is the best advice you have ever heard or received?
"Don't ever stop learning and growing as a person."
"Be kind to people. Treat others the way you want to be treated."
What is the coolest or most important (teaching/learning/educational) trend you see today?
The coolest educational trend that I see today is STEAM! I love that students work collaboratively to complete a task while integrating many different subject areas. It builds teamwork, empathy, and encourages creative thinking.
