Middle School

Beatrice Ammann Priest is a first-year 6th Grade Homeroom Teacher and was raised in SF by her parents who immigrated from Switzerland. She attended WPL from K-8, Lowell High School, and UC San Diego to obtain her urban planning undergraduate degree. While working for the Presidio Trust, Mrs. Priest volunteered as a WPL Sunday School Teacher to 6th graders from 1999-2003.

In August 2000, Beatrice met and fell in love with WPL’s Vicar Jonathan Priest who was a Pastor for St. John the Evangelist Lutheran Church in Brooklyn, NY from 2002-2014 and also Trinity Lutheran Church in Seattle, WA from 2014-2022, while Beatrice taught Sunday School for elementary children and their daughter Evelyn, born in 2012. While studying for her master’s in urban planning at Hunter College
in Manhattan in 2005, Mrs. Priest taught hands-on urban planning to 5th grade students, in lieu of their history class. She later became a substitute teacher in between administrative jobs for Martin Luther School in Queens, NY and at Concordia Lutheran School in Seattle, WA.

Mrs. Priest adores spending time in nature, which she believes is God’s gift for our souls. She loves this quote from Plato: “Do not train children to learning by force and harshness, but direct them to it by what amuses their minds, so that you may be better able to discover with accuracy the peculiar bent of the genius of each.”
