March After-School Sports Newsletter
Congrats to our 7A boys’ basketball team for their 7-3 CYO Division championship (a repeat)! We also had a very successful Redeemer Roundball Tournament with three of our four teams playing on Sunday for the three-day tournament. 8B took Consolation Runner Up, 8A placed 5th, and 7A took 4th place.
This Saturday, March 4th, we will finally honor Margaret and Jim Finley with a dedication to name the Sloat Campus gym “Finley Court”. Ceremony begins at Scottish Rite Auditorium and will be followed immediately with a reception at “Finley Court”.
We added a new sport this Spring with two boys’ volleyball teams competing in the inaugural CYO season. League play began last weekend with our 8th and 7th grade combined team. They played a double header and most likely have qualified for the playoffs (there are just five teams). Our 5th and 4th grade combine team will start play this weekend with a double header and have already qualified for the post season (there are four teams). Regular season league play is 6 games and will follow with a post season that will wrap up before Easter break.
CYO girls’ basketball gets under way next weekend, but a number of 6th-8th grade teams have competed or will compete in pre-season activities. 8A, 7A and 7B travel to Sacramento the weekend of March 4th to compete in the Nor Cal Lutheran Tournament (we are the returning champions!). Good luck to all teams!
CYO girls’ basketball schedules will be out soon. Please check the CYO website.
Finally, application for After-School Sports for the 2017-18 school year will be out shortly. The fee will remain at $200 per sport, per person.
